One person was killed in a fire at an apartment building at Meri-Rastila area in Helsinki on Friday afternoon, police said in a press release.
The fire broke out at about 12:05 pm and engulfed the apartment of the building at the area.
Responding to an alarm, rescue service people and police rushed to the spot and found one person with serious burn injuries. But the person succumbed to the wounds on the spot immediately.
Police, however, did not divulge the detail identity of the decease.
The reason behind the fire could not be known immediately.
Police and rescue service people are investigating into the incident to find out the origin behind the fire.
