The government of Norway will increase its humanitarian assistance to the civilian population in Gaza by 70 million Norwegian kroner (6.37 million U.S. dollars), Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt said here on Friday, reported Xinhua.
"The funds will be channelled through the UN's emergency appeal and Norwegian humanitarian organizations and will be disbursed as quickly as possible," Huitfeldt said in a statement.
Norway provided more than 900 million Norwegian kroner in support to Palestine in 2022, which included humanitarian aid, long-term development aid and the country's contribution to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
"The situation in Gaza is already precarious. It gets worse by the hour. It is extremely important that the civilian population receives food, medicine, water, and that other necessary equipment arrives quickly, so that we can help the civilian population," Huitfeldt said.
