Finland will send another package of defence material worth about EUR 100 million to assist Ukraine, said the Ministry of Defence in a press release.
The President on Friday approved the proposal of the Government in this regard.
“What is at stake in Ukraine's defence struggle is the security environment outlook on Europe and Finland in the current decade. Together with our allies, we remain unwavering in our commitment to support Ukrainians,” said Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen.
This will be the 20th package of defence materiel to Ukraine.
“Finland's 20 defence materiel packages now have a total compensation value of EUR 1.5 billion,” the minister added.
For operational reasons, and to ensure that the assistance will reach its destination safely, further details on the content of the package, the way it is delivered, or the schedule will not be disclosed.
Both Ukraine's needs and the resources of the Defence Forces have been taken into account when deciding on additional assistance.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appreciated the Finland´s decision of sending the defence materiel.
“I thank President Niinisto and the Finnish government for their decision to provide Ukraine with a new military aid package. Finland's total military aid stands at €1.5 bln. This support strengthens not just Ukraine but also the security of Finland and the rest of our Europe,” Zelenskyy wrote in his social media platform X.
“I appreciate the implementation of our agreements and Finland’s principled stance on the path to a just and sustainable peace for Ukraine and Europe as a whole,” he added.
