Two people were killed and another two injured when a gunman opened fire at a pub in Sweden last night, police said on Friday, reported Xinhua.

When police arrived at the pub, located in the town of Sandviken some 190 km northwest of Stockholm at around 10 p.m. (2100 GMT) on Thursday, they found four people who had been shot.

Two of the victims, both men, were later pronounced dead.

"We suspect that one of the deceased was the intended target," police spokesperson Magnus Jansson Klarin told the Swedish Television (SVT). The other victims were believed to be collateral damage, he added.

The shooting was linked to criminal gangs, an unnamed source told SVT.

However, police believe that the motive behind the shooting was a personal vendetta and that it was not connected to conflicts between criminal gangs that have lately resulted in a string of killings, SVT reported.

No suspect has been arrested by Friday afternoon.
