Birth rate remains low in Finland in May

The number of births was 7,409 lower than that of deaths in Finland in May, according to Statistics Finland.

Finland's population was 5,574,801 at the end of May.

The country's population, however, increased by 10,831 persons during January–May. The reason for the increase was migration gain from abroad, since immigration exceeded emigration by 18,356.

The number of births was 6,209 lower than the number of deaths in the country also from January to April this year.

Finland's population was 5,571,439 at the end of April.

The total population, however, increased by 7,469 persons during January–April. The reason for the increase was migration gain from abroad, since immigration exceeded emigration by 13,597.

Finland's fertility rate was the lowest on record in 2022.
