Lions score victory against Germany in neck and neck match

Defending champion Finland scored their first victory in the neck and neck match against Germany in the Ice Hockey World Championship at Nokia Arena in Tampere late Saturday night.

The Lions beat Germany by four goals to three in their second group match while it was the second consecutive defeat for the Germany.

Joel Armia scored the opening goal at the 10th minute and took lead for the Finns but Marcel Noebels of Germany leveled the score at the 18th minute.

Kai Wissmann scored the second goal and took 2-1 lead for Germany at the 33rd minute but Finland came back to the match again immediately as Sakari Manninen scored twitch within in a span of less than two minutes at took the Lions ahead again.

John Peterka scored at the 40th minute and leveled the score again but Mikko Lehtonen scored at the 53rd minutes and ensured the 4-3 victory for Finland.

Finland will face archrival Sweden in their next match on Monday.
