An elderly man was burnt to death in a suspected incident of arson at an apartment building at Lehtoniemi area in Varkaus on early Sunday.
Police are investigating into the case as murder and arrested some suspects from the locality in connection with the fire, said police in a press release on Sunday.
Responding to an alarm at about 3:00 am, rescue service people and police rushed to the spot and recovered the body of the deceased from the apartment.
Police, however, did not divulge the detail identity of the decease and the number of the detainees.
The reason behind the fire could not be known immediately.
Police and rescue service people are investigating into the incident to find out the origin of the fire.
