A total of 3.9 million cubic metres of roundwood was harvested for industrial use in June this year, which was 13 percent lower compared to the stipulated period of previous year, said the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke).
This removal volume was also 12% lower than the five-year June average.
In January-June, 30.3 million cubic metres of roundwood were harvested for use by the forest industries. This removal volume was down 1% from the previous year and down 4% from the five-year average.
Sawlogs accounted for 1.7 million cubic metres and pulpwood for 2,1 million cubic metres of the industrial roundwood removal.
Industrial roundwood removals from non-industrial private forests were 3.0 million cubic metres, which was 0 13% lower from the year before.
The felling volume in forest industry companies’ forests and state-owned forests was 0.9 million cubic metres, which was 15% lower than the year before.
Energywood removals totalled 700,000 cubic metres, of which delimbed stems and whole-trees was 47%.
