About three million tons of grain crop harvest was estimated in 2023 and the amount is fifteen percent lower than the average grain crop for ten years, according to the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke).

The reason is the second lowest estimate of the barley crop in more than 30 years.

The rye crop estimate, however, exceeds 100,000 tons for the fourth time in 40 years, thus covering the calculated annual consumption in Finland.

For the fifth year, the pea crop is growing to record levels.

The harvest of barley was estimated 1.11 million tons, which was 24% lower, Oats 1.04 million tons, which was 14% lower, wheat 0.79 million tons, which was eight percent lower, Rye 0.10 million tons, which was 58% higher, Turnip rape and rape total 49,000 tons, which was 14% lower, Peas 117,000 tons, which was 26% higher and broad bean 21,000 tons, which was 22% lower than the previous year.
