Flight operations at Helsinki Airport are being disrupted from Tuesday afternoon as the ground handling staff started a strike, airlines and country´s airports operator Finavia said.
The ground handling staff started the strike at about 3:00 pm protesting against a decision taken by national flag carrier Finnair to stop the Zonal Employee Discount vouchers for the ground staff workers, said the Finnish Aviation Union (IAU) in a press release.
The walk out affects baggage handling operations, which may lead to longer baggage claim times and delays in check-in, said Finavia in a release.
Finnair already cancelled 24 flights on Tuesday and three flights scheduled for Wednesday, said Finnair in a release.
Finavia urged the passengers to contact their airline regarding baggage.
Finavia is not involved in the walk out and has no information about the duration of the strike.
The authority apologized for the inconvenience caused to the passengers at the airport.
