Anttila says goodbye to Int´l Ice Hockey

Finnish national ice hockey team captain Marko Anttila on Thursday announced his retirement from the national team.

Although there was speculation about his retirement, the legendary right winger made the announcement at the end of the quarter-final match between Finland and Canada at Nokia Arena in Tampere late Thursday night.

The defending world champions Lions were defeated to defending runners-up Canada in the match resulting end of their 2023 World Championship title race.

Anttila, the hero of the 2019 world championship, who also upheld legendary status to win gold in 2022 Beijing Olympic and silver in 2021 world championship in Riga

He also scored several goals at the crucial moments for the team during his prolong career including scoring two goals and assisting for one to take host Finland to the semi-final in the Ice Hockey World Championship in 2022.
