French President Emmanuel Macron is postponing his visit to Germany due to rioting in France, Germany's Office of the Federal President said on Saturday, reported dpa.
Macron was initially due to come to Germany on Monday and Tuesday but asked for the trip to be postponed, the office said in a statement.
"The visit is to be made up as soon as possible," the statement said.
Macron telephoned Steinmeier on Saturday afternoon to tell him about the situation in France, the statement said.
The Elysée Palace confirmed that Macron had requested the delay.
