A total of 310 bankruptcy proceedings were instigated in September 2023, which is 26 more than in the corresponding period one year earlier, according to Statistics Finland.
The number of staff-years in enterprises that filed for bankruptcy totalled 1,248, which is 161 staff-years fewer than in September 2022.
During the past 12 months, the number of bankruptcies was 19 per cent higher than in the 12 months preceding this period.
In September 2023, most bankruptcy proceedings were instigated in the industries of construction and other service activities.
In the industry of other service activities, 105 bankruptcy proceedings were instigated, and in construction 60 bankruptcies.
Meanwhile, 91 enterprise restructuring proceedings were filed in the third quarter of 2023, which is four enterprises restructuring cases fewer than in the corresponding period one year earlier.
The number of staff-years in enterprises for which a petition for restructuring had been filed was 1,397, which is 481 staff-years (53%) more than in the year before.
