At least eight people were killed and 13 others wounded in a shooting in Serbian villages near the town of Mladenovac, some 60 km south of Belgrade, reported Xinhua, quoting local media on Friday.
According to RTS, Serbia's public broadcaster, the shooter, reportedly a 21-year-old man, used an automatic weapon to fire into a crowd from a moving car.
The attacker opened fire in one village, and continued firing in a neighboring village before fleeing.
A heavy police presence was deployed and ambulances rushed to the scene.
Around 600 special forces personnel and a helicopter have been deployed for a thorough search for the suspect, the RTS report said.
This is the second shooting incident in Serbia in two days.
On Wednesday, a shooting occurred at the Vladislav Ribnikar elementary school in Serbia's Municipality of Vracar, killing nine people and injuring seven others.
Earlier, a 14-year-old shooter was arrested by Serbian police in Belgrade after a shooting in an elementary school on Wednesday, in which at least nine people died and seven more were injured, according to the Serbian interior ministry and local media.
According to the press release of the interior ministry, the police were "informed that this morning at 8:40 a.m., a shooting occurred at the Vladislav Ribnikar" elementary school in the Municipality of Vracar.
"The police dispatched all available patrols, immediately went to the field, and arrested the suspected minor, a student of the seventh grade, who, as is suspected, fired several shots from his father's gun in the direction of the students and security of this school," the press release said.
The interior ministry said that six severely injured people are being treated at hospital.
According to RTS, Serbia's public broadcaster, a security guard and eight kids lost their lives; one teacher and three children are at the Emergency Medical Centre in Belgrade, while three more children are at the children's hospital.
"The school is closed. Something like this has never been recorded in the history of Belgrade schools," Milan Nedeljkovic, president of the Municipality of Vracar, told RTS.
