The U23 EC competitions are the first international athletics competitions to be held at the renovated Leppävaara athletics stadium in Espoo, said the City of Espoo in a press release on Friday.

The competitions bring athletes and race tourists from 48 European countries.

The competitions will be held on July 13–16 but the men's and women's 20-kilometer racewalk competions will take place on July 12.

The prizes are awarded outside the stadium in the event square, which is free to enter. The event market also has other activities open for everyone.

Espoo Tapiot and Espoo IF organize the EC competitions in cooperation with the Finnish Sports Federation and the city of Espoo. In addition, more than 400 volunteers will work in the competitions.

In the competition arrangements, the responsibility of the sports event and the environment are taken into account in accordance with the city's carbon neutrality goal 2030.

Athletes who reach the medals will receive their own tree seedlings as a reward, which will be planted in the nearby forests of the Leppävaara sports park.
