Finnish mission in Rabat hoists flag half-mast mourning quake victims

The Finnish embassy in Rabat hoisted the national flag at half-mast to express solidarity to the three days of national mourning announced by the Moroccan government after the devastating earthquake.

“In solidarity with Morocco during this period of mourning, the Embassy of Finland in Rabat lowers its flags to half-mast,” the Finnish Embassy to Morocco wrote in a twitter post on Sunday.

Earlier on Saturday Morocco declared three days of national mourning, and flags will be flown at half-mast on all public facilities during the national mourning.

At least 2,122 people have been killed and 2,421 injured since a massive earthquake struck central Morocco on Friday night, according to the latest update from the Moroccan Interior Ministry on Sunday, reported Xinhua.

President Sauli Niinistö, Prime Minister Petteri Orpo and Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen on Saturday expressed condolence at the deaths of people in the earthquake.
