Girl killed in Helsinki, 2 teenagers held

Police arrested two teenagers on charge of their suspected link to an alleged murder of a teenage girl took place at Myllypuro area in Helsinki last month, said police in a press release on Monday.

The 19-year-old girl was reportedly killed on March 23 and police recovered her body from an apartment building at the locality.

The police started an investigation into the case as a suspected murder and later arrested two teenagers- a boy and a girl- both are 16 years old in connection with the incident.

The suspects were produced before the Helsinki District Court and the court sent them to imprisonment on Saturday.

The police, however, did not divulge the detail identities of the victim and the suspects at the preliminary stage of the investigation.

“The investigation was started as an ordinary probe into the death to find out the reason. Based on the facts, It was revealed that the victim died as a result of external violence. The police are still investigating the motive and the exact reason behind the incident,” said the lead investigator, Tuomas Lindholm.
