Nordic, Baltic FMs visit Moldova, Ukraine

Under-Secretary of State Kai Sauer and the foreign ministers of Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden visited Chisinau in Moldova and Odesa in Ukraine on Thursday and Friday, said the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in a press release.

In Moldova, the Nordic and Baltic delegation met President Maia Sandu, Prime Minister Dorin Recean, Minister of Foreign Affairs Nicolae Popescu and Speaker of Parliament Igor Grosu.

They discussed Moldova’s EU candidate status and reforms and support needs related to the candidacy.

They also exchanged views on Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and its effects on Moldova.

In Ukraine, the delegation met Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba. They discussed support for Ukraine and the reconstruction of Ukraine.

The delegation also visited the Port of Odesa, which is one of three Black Sea Grain Initiative ports.

“Jointly with NB8 (Nordic, Baltic 8 ) colleagues …..today in Odessa, expressing our unwavering solidarity with Ukraine. Pledging continued support for Ukraine’s initiatives to strengthen economic flow in the Black Sea Region and ensure global food security,” Latvian Foreign ministry wrote in a twitter post on Friday.
