One person was drowned after falling from a water jet into the Kemijoki river in Rovaniemi, a municipality in Lapland on Saturday, said police in a press release.
The accident took place when the person was riding the water jet in the river in the morning. At certain stage the person fell into the river and downed in the water.
Responding to an alarm police and rescue service people rushed to the spot and rescued the person from the water in a critical condition. The person was given first aid but died on the spot immediately.
The police, however, did not divulge the identity of the deceased.
The police are investigating into the incident to find out the reason behind the death.
Meanwhile, another person was drowned in water at Riistakoski area in Kuopio, a municipality in Eastern Finland on Saturday afternoon, police said.
The body of the deceased was later recovered from the water near a holiday home.
Police did not disclose detail information about the incident and the identity of the deceased.
The police are investigating into the incident to find out the reason behind the death.
