One person was killed in a train accident at Harapainen area in Lappeenranta, a municipality under South Karelia region on Sunday afternoon.
Police said that the accident took place at about 2:30 pm when a train bound for Kouvola crushed the person under wheels at the area.
The person was killed on the spot.
The police, however, did not divulge the details about the reason behind the accident and the identity of the victim.
Police did not suspect any crime link to the incident.
The Accident Investigation Board and Police are investigating into the incident to find out the circumstances surrounding the accident.
