An elderly man was drowned in a lake in Tampere on Tuesday afternoon while another man was killed in a road accident at Siilinjärvi, a municipality in Northern Savonia late Monday night, said police in separate press releases on Tuesday.
Police said that the elderly man of 75 years old died after he had fallen into Näsijärvi lake from a boat in Tampere at about 12:30 pm.
Responding to an alarm, police and rescue services people rushed to the spot and recovered the body of the man from the water after extensive search.
The police, however, did not divulge the identity of the deceased.
After the preliminary investigation, police did not find any crime link to his death.
Meanwhile, one person was killed and two others were injured in a road accident at Pöljä area in Siilinjärvi late Monday night.
The accident took place on Valtatie road at the locality when one private car collided head-on with another private car coming from opposite direction at about 9:30 p.m.
Driver of one car was killed on the spot in the accident while driver and passenger of the rest car were injured.
The deceased, born in 90s hailed from Kuopio.
The injured were taken to Kuopio University Hospital (KYS).
Police said that it had been raining accompanying with strong storm at the time of accident and the road was dark.
The police did not disclose the reason behind the accident and the identities of the victims.
The Accident Investigation Board and Police are investigating into the incident to find out the circumstances surrounding the accident.
