People can hear chamber music in libraries in Helsinki in November, when the Philharmonic at the Library -tour, organised jointly by the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra and the library, starts on 6 November, said the City of Helsinki in a press release on Wednesday.

The tour includes concerts in 12 libraries in Helsinki.

The tour begins on November 6 at Munkkiniemi Library and ends on November 29 at the Rikhardinkatu Library.

The concerts begin at noon or 6:00pm. Musicians from the orchestra will perform at twelve libraries, bringing with them chamber music from the early 1900s, Argentinian tangos by Astor Piazzolla, music for bassoon and electronics, and even a concert that combines storytelling and music.

Each library concert will last approximately half an hour, and admission is free of charge.

The Philharmonic at the Library tour provides easy access to high-quality chamber music concerts for local residents in their own public libraries. This is the fourth year of The Philharmonic at the Library tour.

“Libraries and culture are inextricably linked. I am really happy that chamber music concerts by musicians from the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra can be heard for the fourth year in a row throughout the city,” said Katri Vänttinen, Director of Library Services of the City of Helsinki.
