Industrial output decreases in April

Seasonally adjusted industrial output decreased by 1.7 per cent in April from the month before, according to Statistics Finland.

The output decreased in nearly all examined main industries in April.

Adjusted for working days, industrial output declined by 3.8 per cent in April from one year earlier. Seasonally adjusted output fell by 1.8 per cent from the month before.

Among the examined main industries, industrial output grew in April only in the food industry, by 2.1 per cent, and in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, by 0.1 per cent from the month before.

Output declined most in the chemical industry, by 4.1 per cent. Output decreased by 3.4 per cent in mining and quarrying and by 3.1 per cent in the electrical and electronics industry compared to March.

Output also decreased in nearly all examined main industries from one year ago.

Output grew from the year before only in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, up by 6.6 per cent and in the metal industry, up by 0.7 per cent.

Output decreased most in the electrical and electronics industry, by 15.1 per cent, and in the chemical industry, by 12.6 per cent.
